Lahndahn, horses and cheap whiskey

ginglik 1 on stage

Story peoples? Been pretty lazy in terms of communication and that with the rest of the world lately. Plenty has been going on, as you’ll see below.

First off, we had a pair of gigs in London a couple of weekends ago. The first night was in west London, on Shepherd’s Bush green to be precise. Or rather in the toilets:

below the green - Ginglik is a small but nice club (converted from a former public pisser) with savage cocktails (if you’re into that) but no beer on tap! We played a hectic set to a fairly langers crowd (who were into it nonetheless!) and then legged it afterwards back to the place we were staying.

Cos we were staying in Islington, Meself and Nialler went looking for Arsenal V Liverpool tickets the next day (after naively offering €100 for a pair to the only tout we met he told us to “fack” off) but that was a waste of time so we went with Co in search of the elusive Big Ben instead. Buckingham Palace was a bag of shit and the queen wasn’t headin out, but we did see a great pug convention on the green beside it - there were deck-chairs and all! The gig later that night was on in the Hope and Anchor in Islington - this unglamorous watering-hole is kinda like Dorans, except half the size at most. Nevertheless it has seen the likes of the Clash and Joy Division in the past. Meself and Co had to put the table on the floor with the punters - made for a class gig!

The place was rammed and the people were all there for the tunes, so happy days! So apart from Heathrow-induced delays, a successful excursion. But all of this wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Amy and her aunt Judy, and of course the charming Labrador Lady below (Amy sorted the gigs while we all crashed on the floor of Judy’s flat). To say we owe them would be a gross understatement - three cheers! Huzzah! (Also big ups to Rebecca for the gig photos above. Sound.)

Moving on to matters related to taking it in the bum, the boners have granted permission for Everything Flows to be used in an ad for Punchestown. We wanted to go with the whole Nicole Kidman Chanel vibe

(she made $3.71m off this pile of bollocks), but creative differences followed with the art direction and a huge fracas ensued on Main Street in Naas (mainly involving Newbridge lads batin the heads off the Naas lads and a few Curragh lads standin around lookin schewpah).

We also did a gig as part of the budrising festival in Whelans Friday 12th April. It was mega.

Big ups to Grand Pocket Orchestra who played some smashing stuff beforehand. There were fuck all people there at first, but a load of people appeared out of nowhere (not unlike a zombie flick actually) and we all ended up having deadly craic. So a fat, wet, dripping and pulsating thanks to all who came down to the gig!

What to expect in Bonersville over the next while?

  • Well first off if you’re a Kildare reader, get down to the Riverbank Thursday 24th April for the Culture Factory fundraiser - our mate’s tryin to get a youth centre off the ground (and into deep snazzy space) in Newbridge.
  • On May 17th there’ll be plenty of cheap whiskey for me at least in Barcelona, where we continue our “Boners on holidays” series with a poetry-recital/dog-patting session in Razzamatazz.
  • Pluuuuus - stay tuned for a freakin fab remix album due out this Summer - FOR FREE! Yes, a mental sensible launch night and free download to follow. Stay tuned

One last thing, we are currently labouring our balls off on our second album. This is slow but steady - it will have a lot of decent collabs again hopefully, and tonnes of flugelhorn and oboe, and fingers crossed it will be out this year. And we’re gonna release it with a launch night in Tamangos, The Vortex Dunshaughlin and Spirals Nightclub in the Brandon Hotel, Tralee, SIMULTANEOUSLY… well eh… anyway, nice one. Seeya
